Lenovo SR Series — FFDC Log Collection Guide

This guide explains how to export FFDC log packages from the XCC management port of Lenovo ThinkSystem SR series servers (e.g., SR650, SR630, SR850).

Supported Models

  • ThinkSystem SR650 / SR650 V2 / SR650 V3
  • ThinkSystem SR630 / SR630 V2 / SR630 V3
  • ThinkSystem SR850 / SR850 V2
  • Other SR series models equipped with XCC (Lenovo XClarity Controller)

Collection Steps

1. Connect and log in to the XCC management interface

The XCC management port is the network port on the back of the server marked with a wrench icon (highlighted by the red box in the figure below). If a management IP has been configured, access it directly via a browser; if not configured, connect your laptop directly to this port using an Ethernet cable and set your laptop's IP address to 192.168.70.100, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, then access the XCC factory default address https://192.168.70.125.

Default Account

The default XCC username is typically USERID, and the default password is PASSW0RD(use the digit zero, not the letter O). If modified, please use the updated credentials.

2. Download FFDC Log Package

The XCC home page may display two different interfaces depending on the firmware version. Follow the steps based on the page you see.

Newer Firmware: The Service Log button appears in the top-right corner of the home page and under 'Quick Actions'. Click it, select Debug log(previously called FFDC, containing complete service data), then click Export.

Newer Firmware: Service Logs → Debug Logs → Export

Example: Lenovo XClarity Controller 2 on a ThinkSystem SR650 V3. Menu placement varies with firmware.

Older Firmware: On the home page, click the Service dropdown menu, select Download Service Data(in English interface: Service → Download Service Data). When the confirmation prompt appears, click OK.

Older Firmware: Service → Download Service Data

3. Save FFDC Log Package

XCC requires a few minutes to collect data. Upon completion, the browser will prompt you to save a compressed file in .tzz format.

Save .tzz File

English explanatory illustration of the file-saving dialog. The original filename remains masked.

Download Duration

FFDC log packages are typically several MB to tens of MB. Please wait patiently during collection and download without closing the browser.

4. Verify Filename Format

After download, confirm the filename follows this format:

MachineTypeModel_SerialNumber_xcc_Date-Time.tzz

Example:7X06CTO1WW_J300ABCD_xcc_250305-143022.tzz

Filename Importance

The _xcc_ keyword in the filename is used by the system to automatically identify the log type. Do not modify the filename.

5. Upload to ITCheck.ai

Log in to the ITCheck.ai platform, navigate to the Log Console, and upload the downloaded .tzz file. The system will automatically recognize it as a Lenovo SR series FFDC log and begin analysis.

Optional: Export Event Logs

If only event records are needed, click the Export(Export) button in the top-right corner of the XCC page. Check System Information, Inventory, Events, etc., select Excel as the format, then click Export.
