HP ProLiant Windows: Collect HPS Reports, IML, Survey and ADU

Applicable Scope: Windows systems for older HP ProLiant models such as G5–Gen9. For Gen8 and later servers, it is recommended to download AHS logs via iLO (see "HPE Server AHS log collect"); the following tools are suitable for scenarios where iLO is unavailable and collection within the operating system is required.

HPSReportOne-time collection of hardware, system, storage, and event logs; most comprehensive.HPS Reports (standalone program, no installation required)
IMLIntegrated Management Log, records hardware fault events.IML Viewer or HP Insight Diagnostics

HPSReports (recommended)

  1. Download the HPS Reports program matching your system (x86 for 32-bit systems, x64 for 64-bit systems), double-click to run, and select according to needs when prompted to check for a new version.

    Run HPS Reports

English localization of the legacy HPS Reports 9.1 launch example.

  2. Simply close the Readme.txt pop-up window.
  3. When collection finishes, locate the generated .CAB file and send it to support. The source’s HPS Reports 9.1 example uses C:\WINDOWS\HPSReports\Enhanced\Report\cab; HPE references also describe the parent Report directory. Check the actual output location for the installed version. The source estimates about five minutes.

    Generated CAB file

English localization of the legacy CAB output example; the actual report path and filename depend on the tool version.

  4. To view it yourself, extract the CAB file and open default.htm.

HPS Reports Viewer to inspect hardware information.

IML

  1. Open Start → All Programs → HP System Tools → HP ProLiant Integrated Management Log Viewer.
  2. Click the menu Log → "Save Log As" to save as a .iml file, or Log → "Export Log" to export as CSV.

    IML Viewer Save Log
  3. If HP Insight Diagnostics is installed, you can also select "Integrated Management Log" under its "Log" tab and save as HTML.

Survey

  1. Open HP Insight Diagnostics; it defaults to the System Survey page.
  2. Change the Categories dropdown to All, and change View Level to Advanced.

  3. Click Save to save the Advanced System Survey report locally or to a USB drive.

ADU (Array Diagnostic Report)

  1. Open HP Array Configuration Utility, select the Smart Array controller from the device list.

    ACU Select Controller
  2. Click the Diagnostics tab at the top.

    Click the Diagnostics Tab
  3. Select the controller on the left, then click "Generate Diagnostic Report".

Diagnostics Page Click Generate Diagnostic Report
  4. It takes about 1 minute to generate the report. Click Save Report to save the zip file, then click Close Report and Exit ACU in sequence.

Generating diagnostic report Click Save Report to save

In newer versions, ACU has been renamed to HP Smart Storage Administrator (HP SSA). The operation method is the same: Select the array controller → Diagnose → Generate Diagnostic Report → Save Report.

These screenshots span older ProLiant generations, including a DL380 G3 report viewer. The source’s G5–Gen9 scope is historical guidance, not a compatibility matrix for every utility and Windows release. Use versions supported on the actual server and OS. In SSA, choose the corresponding controller diagnostic-report action; labels vary by release.
