EMC Isilon Log Collection: GUI and CLI

The source illustrates the classic OneFS GUI and CLI collection workflow. Collection and upload have separate progress indicators; a completed gather does not by itself confirm that the package has reached support.

GUI collection

Open Cluster Management → Diagnostics → Gather Info and click Start Gather.

Classic OneFS Gather Info controls

Wait for Gather Status to finish:

Gather progress

Gather succeeded and local package path

The source then shows upload progressing and succeeding. Check the upload status separately:

Upload in progress after gather completion

Upload succeeded and generated package path

CLI collection

Connect over SSH using an account authorized for diagnostic collection. The source uses root:

SSH authentication prompt, password not displayed

Run the collection command:

isi_gather_info

isi_gather_info command

Do not interrupt the script while it gathers diagnostics:

Collection running

Read the final package path and upload result. Retrieve the local archive if upload is unavailable or unsuccessful:

Completed package and upload output

Command help

Run isi_gather_info -h to inspect the options supported by the installed version. The source screenshots show utility selection, incremental collection, file selection and node-selection options:

isi_gather_info help, first part

isi_gather_info help, file and node options

Packages are normally stored under /ifs/data/Isilon_Support/pkg/. Use the actual filename reported by your collection. The 2026 Dell reference states that isi diagnostics is an alternative and that isi_gather_info is not deprecated; check version-specific help before changing collection options.
