Huawei OceanStor 9000: Collect Logs with SmartKit
Collect OceanStor 9000 device information
The SmartKit tool can collect relevant information about the OceanStor 9000 device.
Prerequisites
The OceanStor 9000 device has been added.

OceanStor 9000 does not support using multiple SmartKit software tools to collect information from the same device simultaneously.
When there are access restrictions between the BMC network and the management network (such as physical isolation or firewall blocking), the following functions are unavailable: When collecting information from storage nodes via the SmartKit tool, it is not possible to collect the server's BMC log information under "Hardware".
Background Information
After opening SmartKit, click the Help icon
for usage guidance.
Procedure
- In the main interface of the SmartKit tool, click "Function Management" to enter the Function Management interface.
- In the filter conditions, select "Storage" for "Product Domain", "Distributed Storage" for "Product Type", and "Troubleshooting" for "Scenario".
- On the right side of the interface, select "Storage Information Collection" to enter the Storage Information Collection task interface.
- Click the "Information Collection" task box. The system displays the "Information Collection" dialog box.
- Click "Modify Collection Directory" to specify the path where the collected information will be stored.
- Select the device(s) in the device list for which information collection is required. If multiple devices require information collection, you can select multiple devices to perform operations together. Alternatively, click "Add Device" in the upper-right corner to manually add device information, such as shown inFigure 1.

If no device requiring information collection appears in the device list, click "Supported Devices List for Information Collection" to check whether the device is listed. If it is not listed, upgrade this tool to the latest version first.
After clicking "Add Device", in the displayed "Add Device Step 2-1: Basic Information" dialog box, you can add the corresponding device information. For details on adding device information, refer to the online help interface of the sub-tool. Note that after closing the information collection tool, neither the information collection tool nor SmartKit will save the device information. When collecting information again, you need to re-add the device.

Parameter |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Start Time End Time |
When specifying a start time, a single operation can collect information for a maximum of 14 days only. Therefore, the settings for start and end times follow the rules below.
When the time range is set beyond this limit, complete information collection cannot be guaranteed. If left empty, information from a recent period will be collected by default. However, the size of the compressed package for each node is limited to 20 MB; any data exceeding this limit will be truncated. |
|
Select Nodes |
Enter node names separated by English commas to define the scope of nodes for this collection. Node names can be found after logging in to DeviceManager and clicking "System". On the "Node List" tab, locate the names of each node. If left empty, information from all nodes will be collected by default. |
|
Subsystem List |
The types of subsystem log information that can be selected for this collection are as follows:
If no selection is made, all log information will be collected by default. |
- Click "Collect".

- Inspection may pause for a long duration at 2%. The one-click collection time for three nodes is approximately 10 minutes. As the number of nodes and the time range increase, the number of collected logs will increase, resulting in longer collection times.
- If log collection exceeds two hours and the progress remains stalled for an extended period, shorten the collection time range and reduce the number of nodes, then re-collect the log information. If log collection ultimately fails, contact technical support engineers.

OceanStor 9000 currently does not support log splitting functionality.
- Click the "Open Collection Directory" button to obtain the device information collection results.
This procedure follows the source’s OceanStor 9000 SmartKit help content. Menu labels, retention limits and log-splitting availability are version-specific. A matching official English edition was not found during reference checks; these limits have been retained from the source.
