IBM BladeCenter AMM and Flex System CMM Service Data Collection
IBM BladeCenter chassis is managed by the AMM (Advanced Management Module), and Flex System chassis is managed by the CMM (Chassis Management Module). For chassis-level faults (power supply, fans, switch modules, midplane, etc.), service data from the management module must be collected; logs for the blade servers themselves are still collected via their respective IMM / XCC.
BladeCenter: Collect AMM Service Data
Prepare a laptop and an Ethernet cable, and connect directly to the network port on Management Module 1 at the rear of the chassis.

- Use the configured management IP. The legacy default shown in this guide is
192.168.70.125; place the laptop on the same subnet, for example192.168.70.120. Browse to the AMM IP and sign in with the configured credentials. The legacy source uses
USERID/PASSW0RD(digit zero).
On the welcome page, set the session timeout to "no timeout" and click Continue.

Click Service Tools → AMM Service Data on the left side, and wait for the right-side page to refresh (generating service data takes a few minutes).

After refreshing, click Save AMM Service Data in the top-right corner to save the archive with the suffix
.tgz.
Flex System: Collect CMM Service Data
- Log in to the CMM web interface using a browser.
Click the Service and Support dropdown menu at the top, select Download Service Data, and then click Download Mgmt Module Data Now under the Management Module Service Data tab.

- Wait for collection to complete (the source estimates 1–2 minutes), then use Save Mgmt Module Data to save the generated archive. The source describes
.tgz; Lenovo CMM2 documentation specifies.tar. Retain the format produced by the installed CMM version.
Do not open other windows (such as remote consoles) while downloading service data.
