HP EVA (P6000) Collecting Logs via Command View
HP EVA (StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array, later renamed P6000) collects logs via Command View EVA on the management server. The complete diagnostic package is generated using "Capture System Information"; if only event logs are needed, they can also be exported separately from "View events".
Method 1: Capture System Information (Recommended)
Command View 10.x
- Sign in to Command View EVA, select the array and record its Node World Wide Name (WWN). The source uses the last four characters as a visual aid; verify the complete WWN when identifying the array to collect.
- Click "Settings" at the bottom left of the window, then click "Management Options" on the P6000 Command View Management Properties page.
- Click the "Capture System Information" button at the bottom of the page.
- Locate the array corresponding to the WWN from Step 1, and check "Controller Termination Events", "Controller Events", and "Controller Configuration Dump".
- Click the "Capture System Information" button at the top of the right pane, wait for collection to complete, and save the generated zip file.
Command View 9.x
Log in to Command View EVA, click the EVA name, and record the Node World Wide Name.

Click "Server Options" at the top right, then click "Capture System Information".

Under the array corresponding to the WWN, check "Command View EVA Management Server Events", "Controller Termination Events", "Controller Events", and "Controller Configuration Dump", then click "Capture Selected Information" at the top of the page.

- Wait for collection to complete; when prompted, save the generated zip file.
During collection, you may remain on the same page for a long time, do not switch to other pages, otherwise the collection will be interrupted and no prompt to save the file will appear.
Method 2: Export the three types of event logs separately
Click the EVA name (e.g., EVA4400) on the left side of Command View, then click "View events" on the right side.

Sequentially access the three log types: Management Agent Event Log, Controller Event Log, and Controller Termination Event Log.

On each log type page, click "Get event file", and in the pop-up download box, select "Save" to save.
