Dell PowerVault MD3000/MD3200 Series Storage Support Data Collection

Use Modular Disk Storage Manager (MDSM) on the management station to collect PowerVault MD support data, including the storage array profile, Major Event Log (MEL) and controller status. Ensure the management station can reach both controllers. Archive formats depend on the software and firmware: the older examples below use ZIP; current Dell guidance for MD32xx/MD34xx/MD36xx/MD38xx describes .7z archives.

MD3000 / MD3000i (Early MDSM versions)

  1. Open MDSM and enter the Array Management window, click the top "Support" tab, and select "Gather Support Information".

Gather Support Information on the Support page
  2. Click "Save Support Information".

    Save Support Information
  3. Click Browse to specify the save path and filename, then click Start.

    Specify file and begin collection
  4. Wait for all collections to complete (a few minutes). Once done, send the generated zip file to technical support.

Official steps for MD32xx / MD34xx / MD36xx / MD38xx are available in the Dell Knowledge Base:How to gather the support logs of PowerVault MD32xx, MD34xx, MD36xx and MD38xx; see PowerVault ME4 series ME4: How to collect support logs.

Newer MDSM releases may also provide Collect all Support Data on the Summary tab. Keep the archive extension generated by your version.
