AFF / FAS: Amber Drive LED Without an Apparent Fault
Symptom and scope
The source concerns AFF/FAS drive LEDs, across drive models. An amber LED is on without an immediately apparent fault, sometimes following reboot, takeover or giveback. The source also lists failed or failing drives, so an amber LED must not be assumed harmless.
Possible explanation
The LED might have been turned on manually during an earlier identification operation.
Clear a confirmed manual indication
First inspect the actual drive status and confirm the disk path. If investigation establishes that the light is only a manual indication, the source gives:
Cluster::> storage disk set-led -disk <disk path name> -action offThis changes the LED state; it does not fix a drive fault, change RAID health or establish that replacement is unnecessary. See the official storage disk set-led reference for the installed release.
