LSI 9271-8i: Enable JBOD in the Source Firmware Environment

Symptom and scope

The source’s LSI 9271-8i firmware did not expose a default JBOD option. It gives the following controller-property command for that environment; support for the setting depends on the actual controller/OEM firmware.

From an operating-system command shell

MegaCli -AdpSetProp -EnableJBOD -1 -a0

-a0 selects adapter 0. The value in the source is -1 (hyphen followed by digit one), not -L1 or -L0. Confirm the intended adapter before changing a controller property.

From the preboot MegaPCLI prompt

When the controller’s POST prompt offers it, press Ctrl+Y to open the controller command prompt.

Original English MegaPCLI prompt showing controller HA-0

Enter the subcommand without prefixing the standalone executable name:

-AdpSetProp -EnableJBOD -1 -a0
Original English preboot prompt showing successful Set JBOD to Enable after rejecting a MegaCli prefix

The source screenshot shows that entering MegaCli inside this preboot prompt first returned an invalid-input message; the subcommand then returned Adapter 0: Set JBOD to Enable success. and Exit Code = 0x0.

This sets the controller property; it does not document converting an existing array member to JBOD. Do not clear the RAID configuration or repurpose member drives as an inferred extra step.
