Install Windows Server 2008 with Inspur Ruijie: Dedicated RAID Card Workflow

This archived source describes Windows Server 2008 installation using the Inspur Ruijie Server Kit. Use the kit/media and controller drivers supported for the actual server and OS. The English figures recreate the source screens; they do not document a new installation performed here. Protect required data before booting an installation or partitioning workflow.

1. Start the kit and open System Settings

Insert the Ruijie Server Kit disc, configure the intended optical boot path in BIOS and open Ruijie Intelligent System Installation from the kit. The source says the program detects the server model. Its example hardware page identifies NF5220 and offers System Settings:

The source also describes About for copyright information, Help for the software documentation and Exit to leave the tool and restart. Those descriptions are retained as navigation information; those buttons are not all visible in this cropped source view.

2. Step 1: choose the intended operating system

In System Settings, choose the supported Windows Server 2008 entry, then Step 2. Verify detected storage-controller information and that the intended RAID logical drive is available before proceeding. The source category is dedicated RAID, but its example storage label simply says SATA controller; that label alone does not identify a particular RAID card or prove its configuration.

The source screenshot shows Windows Server 2003 (x86). It is reused by the Server 2008 article; select the actual supported Server 2008 entry for that installation.

3. Step 2: user information and historical licensing fields

The source says User name and Company name may be entered or left empty. Its pictured example uses user01 and inspur, while the prose separately suggests company01. The repeated all-A product-key text in the figure is an obvious format placeholder, not a valid key.

The source says the kit’s product-key field need not be filled for its Server 2008 workflow and that activation is completed afterward. That is the source’s media-specific workflow, not a claim that activation or appropriate licensing is unnecessary.

The archived dialog labels its licensing-mode choices as not applicable to Windows 2008. For its older Windows 2003 example, the source describes Per server mode as concurrent-access allocation to one server and Per client mode as allocation to clients across servers. The picture uses Per server mode and 5 connections, with an entry range of 5–9999. These historical UI fields do not establish that actual access licenses have been acquired or validated. Do not apply them as Server 2008 licensing instructions.

4. Step 3: network settings

Enter the intended computer name if required; the prose suggests computer01, while the screenshot uses Mycomputer. The captured screen selects automatic IP addressing and leaves manual IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS fields empty. Its manual-IP option is marked not applicable to Windows 2008 in this kit interface:

That restriction concerns this old installer screen, not whether Windows Server 2008 can use static addressing after installation. Review the actual network configuration separately rather than inventing addresses for the blank fields.

5. Step 4: review the partitioning choice

The source provides two paths. Keep existing partitions retains partition information but still clears all C: data during installation. Repartition clears all partitions and data on the target disk and lets you select the new C: size. Neither path preserves an existing C: installation. Back up required data and verify the target disk before either action.

The example disk-size display is 21474 MB. Repartition is selected. The current C: dropdown value remains 10GB, while the open list highlights 30GB; opening or highlighting a list item is not evidence that it was applied. The old UI mixes an MB field label with GB option text. Check units and capacity against the real disk; the pictured list contains options larger than that example disk.

6. Step 5: confirm and start the intended installation

Check the settings before Start Installation. The source summary uses Mycomputer, user01, inspur, an all-A dummy key, Per server mode, 5 connections and Repartition with C: 10GB. Manual network values remain blank and the progress bar reads 0%:

Only when the actual Windows Server 2008 selection, target and destructive partition settings are correct, start installation. The source says the tool partitions as selected, ejects the kit disc and requests the Windows installation disc. Insert the matching media and confirm; files are copied, then the machine restarts from the hard disk for Windows Setup. The provided image set ends at the start command/0% screen, so it does not prove installation or activation completed.
