Manually Install Windows Server 2003
Archived OEM guide for manually installing Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. All twenty-three source figure positions are retained: fifteen English instructional localizations/reconstructions, three Oracle official English control figures with stated differences, and five original English storage-setup figures. The procedure describes the source’s legacy media, driver and GUI workflow.
1. Boot Setup and make storage drivers available
Boot the intended Windows Server 2003 installation media using the server’s appropriate optical or supported virtual-media boot entry. If the storage controller needs an additional boot-time driver, press F6 while Setup displays its third-party SCSI/RAID driver prompt. The first five figures are original English text-mode setup examples.

After F6, Setup continues loading components before displaying the mass-storage-device prompt. This delay is expected. Press S to specify an additional device when the required driver is not already available.

Make the correct controller driver available using the floppy or supported virtual-floppy workflow for this legacy installation, then respond to the request for the manufacturer-supplied support disk. Match the OS architecture and the actual controller; a generic driver for another server is not interchangeable.

Select the matching controller driver from the support disk. The source example includes the label “2008 raid for windows server 2003 32-bit”; that is a driver/controller package label in this Windows Server 2003 workflow, not evidence that this figure installs Windows Server 2008.

Confirm the intended storage driver appears in the setup device list, and continue or specify another required device as appropriate. Setup may then spend several minutes detecting other mass-storage devices. Keep required driver media available while Setup still needs it.

2. Select the intended installation and storage target
At Welcome to Setup, choose the intended installation action. The official English figure from Oracle’s archived Windows Server 2003 guide identifies Enter to install, R for the Recovery Console and F3 to quit; it is a reference figure from a different server guide.

Read the actual license agreement supplied with the installation media. The source identifies Standard and Enterprise editions and shows F8 for agreement, Esc for disagreement and Page Down for the next page. The English figure is a labelled instructional schematic with legal paragraphs omitted. Continue only if the applicable actual agreement is accepted.

Review the intended disk and existing data before creating a new partition. The source fresh-install example shows Unknown Disk / There is no disk in this drive, followed by a 286080 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 3 on mraid35x [MBR] with 286079 MB unpartitioned space. The unknown-drive message is retained rather than presented as a fully healthy storage check. In the intended unpartitioned space, C opens partition creation. For repair/reinstallation, merely avoiding partition deletion does not guarantee data preservation; use the correct recovery plan and verified backups before storage changes.

Enter the intended partition size and confirm it. The original prose suggests 40000 MB or more, whereas its creation screenshot enters 8000 MB; these are different source examples, not the same value. The official English creation-control figure below uses a different 140004 MB lsi_sas disk and a 139996 MB size entry. It is used to identify the English controls, not to prescribe that capacity or reproduce the OEM’s 8000 MB entry.

The next OEM source figure shows C: Partition1 [New (Raw)] at 8001 MB and 278078 MB unpartitioned space on its 286080 MB disk. Select only the intended target partition. These historical small-partition example values are retained as pictured, not promoted as a general deployment sizing recommendation.

Review the intended filesystem and formatting action. The OEM figure selects NTFS (Quick) and also lists FAT choices. The official English reference below retains the NTFS Quick and normal NTFS controls but does not show the OEM’s FAT alternatives. Formatting changes the selected partition’s contents; confirm the target and recovery plan before performing it.

The source formatting-progress example is at 20% for the 8001 MB C: partition on the same disk. This is an in-progress state, not a completion message.

After formatting, Setup copies installation files. The source figure shows 27% and Copying: driver.cab. Do not remove driver media while it is still being read. When Setup finishes this stage and restarts, follow the actual media-removal/boot prompts so it continues from the intended installed system rather than restarting the installation.

3. Review regional, licensing and account settings
The graphical Regional and Language Options step follows. The source uses Chinese (China) standards/formats, location China, and Chinese (Simplified) - US Keyboard text input. The English illustration translates those settings without changing them to English; choose the actual deployment’s required settings. The displayed 33 minutes is an installer estimate.

Enter the intended licensee name and organization at Personalize Your Software. The source fields are empty and remain empty in this instructional figure; no personal details have been supplied.

Provide the authorized product key from your own media/licensing documentation where Setup requires it. The English reconstruction deliberately leaves all five key groups empty. No product key is supplied, suggested or embedded in this document.

At Licensing Modes, the source selects Per server with 20 concurrent connections; Per device or per user is unselected. The archived explanation contrasts server-scoped concurrent connections with device/user assignments. This historical UI value is not evidence of licenses purchased and is not a current licensing recommendation. Select the mode and quantity appropriate to the actual applicable agreement and entitlements rather than copying the sample count.

Choose the intended computer name and set a unique administrator password that meets the actual policy. The English reconstruction uses the illustrative computer name SERVER-EXAMPLE and leaves Administrator password and Confirm password empty; it does not reproduce a source hostname or entered credential.

The next source step is a weak-password warning. Its English reconstruction retains the question about continuing with the current password and the Yes/No controls, and explicitly labels the six-character/class recommendations as historical. If the warning is encountered, return to choose an appropriate stronger password consistent with the actual policy; the archived warning is not approval to use a weak password.

4. Finish system and network settings
Set the actual date, time and time zone for the deployment. The source example shows August 8, 2004 at 13:01:50 with (GMT+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Urumqi. Those historical values are retained in the illustration, not replaced by today’s date or an inferred time-zone suffix.

Review Networking Settings. The source selects Typical settings, whose displayed description uses Microsoft network components and TCP/IP automatic addressing. Custom settings is a separate option for manual configuration; choose the actual deployment requirements rather than assuming an automatically assigned address is correct.

Choose the intended workgroup or domain membership. The source selects the no-domain/workgroup option with WORKGROUP; the domain option is unselected and its field blank. The English figure retains that state and does not depict a successful domain join.

After Setup and the required restarts/sign-in, the source ends at Manage Your Server with no server roles added. The English figure uses the same illustrative SERVER-EXAMPLE name as the earlier reconstruction. An open management window does not establish that every driver, update, application or server role has been configured; complete the required deployment checks for the actual environment.

English sources and scope
No corresponding English OEM QA or complete same-server English figure set was verified; the OEM English selector leads to its home page. Oracle’s archived Sun Fire X2270 Windows Server 2003 installation guide supplies the three English text-mode reference figures. Its hardware drivers and disk capacities differ from this OEM example. The English Sun Fire X4150 guide describes the related Windows Server 2003 R2 graphical configuration sequence, but its preinstalled R2 context is distinct from this manual installation.
- Oracle: Install Windows Server 2003 Operating System
- Oracle: Configure the preinstalled Windows Server 2003 R2 OS
The license schematic omits legal prose. Product-key and password-stage figures are safe reconstructions with no source credential bitmap submitted. The historic Per server value, time-zone setting and weak-password warning are identified as source examples. No driver installation, disk/partition operation, account change, network change or OS installation was performed while preparing this translation.
