Install Windows Server 2008 with Inspur Ruijie: Onboard SATA RAID Workflow

This archived source describes Windows Server 2008 installation using the Inspur Ruijie Server Kit. Use the kit/media and controller drivers supported for the actual server and OS. The English figures recreate the source screens; they do not document a new installation performed here. Protect required data before booting an installation or partitioning workflow.

1. Boot the kit and select the correct model path

Insert the Ruijie Server Kit disc and configure the intended optical boot path in BIOS. Select the entry matching the purchased server/controller configuration. The source highlights NP3020M2/NP3060 (4310 RAID configuration), entry 5. The menu separately lists NP3060 with Intel SATA HostRAID as entry 4; do not treat entry 5 as the correct choice for every onboard SATA system:

If prompted to press a key to boot from the CD, do so for this first kit boot. The OS menu offers 1 for Windows Server 2003, 2 for Windows Server 2008 and 3 to exit and shut down:

For Windows Server 2008, select option 2. The source article accidentally repeats text saying to choose 1 and uses 2003 examples later; choosing 1 actually selects Windows Server 2003, as the preserved menu states.

2. Choose the intended partitioning path

The next menu offers 1: Repartition and install the system, 2: Install on existing partitions, or 3: Exit and shut down. Repartition removes all existing target-disk data. Installing on existing partitions still clears the current C: data. Protect required data and verify the intended target before proceeding:

The source example chooses repartitioning and then shows a second confirmation menu: option 1 explicitly erases all disk contents; option 2 returns to the main menu. Continue with 1 only for that intended destructive installation:

After initialization, enter the desired primary-partition size in MB. The source prompt gives 20000 as an example, while the actual typed value is 40000. These are different values and are not a universal sizing recommendation:

Entering the confirmed size proceeds with partitioning/formatting and preparation of temporary installation files. Follow the restart prompt when preparation completes. Keep the Ruijie disc inserted during this restart because the kit still performs additional setup.

3. Restart from the hard disk and swap media

At the Ruijie boot menu after restart, choose Boot from hard disk (entry 6), or allow its intended hard-disk boot. This is different from repeating the initial model-selection/partitioning step:

The source says the kit disc is ejected and the tool asks for Windows installation media. The preserved example prompt names Windows Server 2003:

This Server 2008 article reuses a Server 2003 prompt. For an actual 2008 installation, verify that the selected kit workflow requests the matching 2008 media. If it still requests 2003 unexpectedly, verify the OS selection and kit support before continuing; do not assume two different Windows versions are interchangeable.

4. Windows Setup and completion checks

With the correct selected workflow and matching installation media, allow file copying and Windows Setup to proceed. The source describes automatic completion but supplies no separate Windows Server 2008 file-copy, completion or successful-boot screenshot in this article. Verify the real installation result and required drivers; this translation makes no new success claim.

The linked Inspur English materials confirm the Ruijie Server Kit terminology and the need for a working, supported storage/RAID configuration. They describe different M3 server models and are not exact English versions of these older GUI screens or proof of compatibility for the illustrated model.
