Dell PowerEdge: Configure iDRAC IP from the Front LCD Panel

Supported Dell PowerEdge servers with an LCD front panel, including the source’s R420, R520, R620, R720, R630 and R730 examples, can configure iDRAC networking without a separate monitor and keyboard. The optional LCD bezel must be fitted and the menu available.

Panel buttons

✓ selects/confirms; < moves left or decreases the selected value; > moves right or increases it, depending on context. The home message may show a service tag, model or configured text. If the LCD is amber and shows an error, read the message first.

Configure a static address

  1. Connect the dedicated iDRAC port to the management network, or use the configured shared LOM port. A shared port works only when the matching NIC-selection mode is configured.
  2. Press ✓, select Setup, confirm, then select iDRAC.
  3. Select Static IP (displayed as StaticIP on some models).
  4. Move to a digit, press ✓ to select it, and adjust it with the arrow buttons. Repeat for the remaining digits, then choose the confirmation/checkmark position to save.
  5. Set and confirm the subnet mask and gateway through the displayed prompts. Their order can differ by generation. Confirm the complete configuration.
  6. View the address using View → iDRAC IP → IPv4 → IP, where available. The source lists the legacy default 192.168.0.120; an existing configuration or DHCP may use another address.
  7. Check reachability from a computer on the management network, then open https://<iDRAC_IP>. If a certificate warning appears, verify that this is the intended iDRAC before proceeding. Sign in using the configured credentials. The source’s legacy default password is not reproduced here.

Without an LCD panel

Press F2 during boot and open System Setup → iDRAC Settings → Network. Once iDRAC is reachable, follow the Dell PowerEdge SupportAssist / TSR collection guide.
