NF5280M4: Read NIC MAC Addresses with IPMItool
Onboard NIC addresses
The source gives this OEM command for the NF5280M4:
ipmitool raw 0x3a 0x02 0x04 0x00 0x01Example response, with the original byte values retained:
04 00 01 00 00 6c 92 bf 2b 26 1a 00 00 00 00 01
00 6c 92 bf 2b 26 1b 00 00 00 00Counting from byte 1 across the complete response (not restarting at each display line), bytes 6–11 are 6c 92 bf 2b 26 1a and bytes 18–23 are 6c 92 bf 2b 26 1b. These are the two onboard data-network port MAC addresses in this example.
Add-in NIC addresses
ipmitool raw 0x3a 0x02 0x0b 0x00 0x02The source interprets the final pair 0x00 0x02 as the inclusive port range 0 through 2. For five ports, it gives 0x00 0x04. It uses the same response format, with bytes 6–11 holding the first port’s MAC address.
These are model-specific OEM commands, not portable IPMI commands for every server. Confirm the BMC/firmware command and response layout before applying the byte positions to another platform.
