arcconf Tool Operation Manual
1.1.1 Initializing and Uninitializing Disks with the arcconf Tool
[Command Function]
On the PMC array card system, initializing a disk changes its status from raw to ready, allowing for further RAID formation and hot spare configuration; uninitializing changes a disk from ready status back to raw. This manual assumes the arcconf tool is located in the current directory.
./arcconf task start <Controller#> device <channel# ID#> <task>
Note: < > indicates required; [ ] indicates optional
[Command]
1. Initialize (initialize):
./arcconf task start 1 device 0 8 initialize
Indicates initialization of the disk corresponding to channel 0, device 8 under controller 1 of the array card.
./arcconf task start 1 device all initialize
Indicates initialization of all disks under controller 1 of the array card.
2. Uninitialize (uninitialize):
./arcconf task start 1 device 0 8 uninitialize
Indicates uninitialization of the disk corresponding to channel 0, device 8 under controller 1 of the array card.
./arcconf task start 1 device all uninitialize
Indicates uninitialization of all disks under controller 1 of the array card.
[Parameters]
1. Required Parameters
| Parameter | Parameter Description | Value |
| Controller# | ID of the RAID card where the disk is located | Usually 1 |
| channel# ID# | The channel of each physical disk and ID; Multiple can be used | You can check the physical disk's channel and ID using ./arcconf getconfig 1 pd (Reported Channel, Device (T:L) corresponding items) |
| task | Task | Can select initialize or uninitialize |
1.1.2 Arcconf Tool Setting/Canceling Hot Spare
[Command Function]
RAID-1000 Card Setting and Canceling Hot Spare
[Command]
./arcconf setstate <Controller#> device <channel# ID#> <State> [logicaldrive <LD#>[LD#]…][noprompt] [nologs]
1. Set device 0 19 as global hot spare:
./arcconf setstate 1 device 0 19 hsp
2. Set device 0 19 as dedicated hot spare for a specific RAID:
./arcconf setstate 1 device 0 19 hsp logicaldrive 0
3. Remove hot spare status, changing to ready disk:
./arcconf setstate 1 device 0 19 rdy
1.1.3 Arcconf Tool Creating and Deleting RAID
[Command Function]
RAID-1000 Card Creating and Deleting RAID
[Command]
1. Create RAID:
./arcconf create <Controller#> logicaldrive [options] <size> <RAID#> <channel# ID#> [channel# ID#] … [noprompt] [nologs]
2. Delete RAID:
./arcconf delete 1 logicaldrive <ld#>
Note: < > indicates required; [ ] indicates optional
[Parameters]
1. Required Parameters
| Parameter | Parameter Description | Value |
| Controller# | ID of the RAID controller containing the hard disk | Usually 1 |
| size | Size of the created logical drive | Unit is MB; 'max' can be used to indicate all disk space |
| RAID | RAID level to configure | Enter the number directly (e.g., for Raid5, enter 5); 'volume' indicates creating a simple volume. |
| channel# ID# | Channel and ID of each physical disk; Multiple entries can be used | You can view the channel and ID of physical disks via ./arcconf getconfig 1 pd (Reported Channel, Device (T:L) corresponding item) |
| ld | Logical drive number | You can use the command ./arcconf getconfig 1 ld to view the logical drive numbers |
2. [options] Parameters
| Parameter | Parameter Format | Value |
| stripesize | Stripesize 256 (Currently supports 8, 16... 1024) | Default is 256 |
| name Priority | Name LdRaid0 Priority low | Default is DefaultValue0 (starts from 0) Can select high, med, low |
| Method | Method quick | Can select build, clear, quick |
| Rcache | Rcache ron/roff | Default ron |
| Wcache | Wcache ron/roff | Default ron |
[Example]
Content in the yellow box is optional
# Create a simple volume logical drive named LdRaid0; max indicates using full disk space.
./arcconf create 1 logicaldrive Name LdRaid0 max volume 0 8
# Create a RAID1 level logical drive; default is fast initialization.
./arcconf create 1 logicaldrive max 1 0 8 0 9
# Create a RAID5 level logical drive; fast initialization is recommended.
./arcconf create 1 logicaldrive Method quick max 5 0 8 0 9 0 10
# Create a RAID6 level logical drive; fast initialization is recommended. To use all disks for RAID6, list all hard disk device IDs after RAID level 6.
./arcconf create 1 logicaldrive Method quick max 6 0 8 0 9 0 10
# Create a RAID10 level logical drive; default is fast initialization. To use all disks for RAID10, list all hard disk device IDs after RAID level 10.
./arcconf create 1 logicaldrive max 10 0 8 0 9 0 10 0 11
# Delete logical drive
./arcconf delete 1 logicaldrive 0
Delete logical drive 0 (logical device number 0)
./arcconf delete 1 logicaldrive all
Delete all logical drives
[Note]
1. For the RAID-1000 card, after inserting a new hard disk, its status will be raw. It must be initialized first to become ready before being configured as part of a RAID array or set as a hot spare.
2. When connecting an expander, there is a certain correspondence between devID and slot number, but this relationship depends on whether the front backplane is connected and on the type of the card.
3. When connecting a 12LFF front backplane separately, the <channel# ID#> corresponding to slot 0 for the first disk is 0 8, the second disk at slot 1 corresponds to 0 9, and so on.
