How to Reset the Admin Password on a Brocade Switch
1. Try logging in with the root account (password: fibranne). If successful, use the command 'passwd admin' to change the admin password.
2. If the root account is disabled or its password has been modified and forgotten, you must force a reboot (power cycle) of the switch to enter single-user recovery mode. The method is as follows:
Step 1: Log in via serial console. After booting, press (ESC) to enter the following interface. At Option?:3
Step 2: =>setenv OSLoadOptions "single" Boot the switch in single-user mode.
Step 3: =>printenv Execute the printenv command to verify if the single-user mode startup was successful. Note that it should print OSLoadOptions=single (indicating success).

English explanatory illustration. The original mistyped pritenv command and its error remain visible; the correct command is printenv.
Step 4: =>saveenv Save the above changes.
Step 5: =>boot Reboot the switch to enter single-user mode.

English explanatory illustration; original console output retained.
Step 6: After entering single-user mode, execute the following:
# mount -o remount,rw / line
Note: Look for the bolded item EXT3 FS on hda1, internal journal.
Step 7: Execute the command: # mount /dev/hda1 /mnt to mount the secondary partition.
Note: If Step 6 printed 'EXT FS on hda1', use the command as shown above. If it printed hda2 or an sd partition, modify Step 7 accordingly to use hda2 or the sd partition.
Step 8: Execute the command # /sbin/passwddefault to initialize all account passwords.
Note: All previously created accounts will be deleted, leaving only the default account.

English explanatory illustration; source commands and error output are shown for this legacy firmware.
Step 9: Execute the command # bootenv OSLoadOptions "quiet;quiet"
Step 10: Execute the command # reboot -f
Note: Do not omit '-f'; otherwise, a manual reboot will be required.

English explanatory illustration; keep the -f option in the reboot command.
