Find a SAS Address or FC WWPN in Legacy HBA BIOS Utilities

When a storage mapping cannot discover an initiator automatically, record the identifier from the HBA’s firmware utility. For FC zoning/mapping, use the port WWN (WWPN), rather than confusing it with a node WWN. For the LSI SAS example, the source identifies the SAS Address. These are legacy BIOS/Option ROM procedures; follow the prompt and firmware mode of the actual adapter.

1. LSI SAS HBA

  1. During POST, press Ctrl+C when the LSI configuration prompt appears.
  2. Select the SAS1064E adapter and press Enter to open its properties.
  3. Record SAS Address.

2. Emulex FC HBA

  1. During POST, press Ctrl+E or Alt+E, as indicated by the BIOS banner.
  2. The utility lists the detected adapter ports.
  3. Select the relevant port, press Enter and record Port Name, the port’s WWPN.

3. QLogic FC HBA

  1. During POST, press Ctrl+Q when prompted to enter Fast!UTIL. Some BIOS versions use Alt+Q.
  2. Select the adapter/port from the detected list.
  3. Choose Configuration Settings from Fast!UTIL Options.
  4. Open Adapter Settings (or Host Adapter Settings, depending on the BIOS version).
  5. Record Adapter Port Name, the selected port’s WWPN.
  6. For additional adapters or ports, press Esc to return to Fast!UTIL Options, choose Select Host Adapter, select the other port and repeat.

The source repeats “Adapter Settings” at two menu levels. The sequence above uses the English firmware labels documented by the OEM; menu names vary across adapter BIOS versions.
