HPE Server and Storage Field Interface Quick Reference (Labeled Photos)
HPE Server and Storage On-Site Quick Reference (v1.0, May 2026): Rear Panel Ports, Management Port, and Serial Baud Rates for Field Engineers to Quickly Verify Wiring and Terminal Parameters; Final Authority is HPE Official Support Documentation.
On-Site Rules
- Servers: Prioritize connecting to the rear panel iLO Management Port; for entry-level models without a dedicated iLO, verify whether NIC 1 / iLO Shared is used.
- The front panel iLO Service Port is a USB maintenance port; the Serial number/iLO information pull tab is an information pull tab and must not be connected to a serial cable.
- MSA/Alletra/3PAR/Primera arrays typically do not have ProLiant iLO; locate the Management/Admin/MGMT/Network port on each controller.
- For dual-controller storage, verify Controller A and Controller B separately; the B controller is often mounted upside down—connect cables according to port labels and numbers.
- Circle numbers in diagrams are from official HPE base images; Chinese annotations on the right are provided for quick on-site identification.
- Serial baud rates are annotated based on publicly available HPE documentation; for series not listed in public documents, the document explicitly states 'Not Listed,' and on-site verification must follow project documentation or HPE support procedures.
Serial Baud Rate Quick Reference
Usage Rule: First check the diagram annotations next to the device, then use this table to confirm terminal parameters. For series marked as 'Not Listed in Public Documents,' do not guess the baud rate on-site; verify via project delivery documentation or HPE support procedures.
| Device/Series | Serial Port Location | Baud Rate/Terminal Parameters | On-Site Notes | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ProLiant Compute DL380a Gen12 | Rear Dedicated iLO Network port; optional serial port cable/dongle can be routed through the ix port. | iLO Serial CLI defaults to 9600 8N1; BIOS Serial Console is configurable. 9600/19200/38400/57600/115200 | Standard rear panel diagrams do not include a fixed DB9 serial port; only connect the ix port to the serial port following serial procedures when a serial port cable/dongle is installed on-site. | HPE DL380a Gen12 User Guide / HPE iLO 6 Security Guide |
| ProLiant DL/ML Gen10–Gen12 (including DL580), StoreEasy/SimpliVity base | Rear Serial/COM or iLO Serial CLI | iLO Serial CLI defaults to 9600 8N1; BIOS Serial Console is configurable. 9600/19200/38400/57600/115200 | On-site verification of BIOS/iLO settings is mandatory; do not mistake the Serial number information pull tab for a serial port. | HPE iLO 6 Security Guide / HPE UEFI System Utilities User Guide |
| MSA 1050 / 2050 / 2052 | CLI port, mini-USB/USB Type-B | 115200 8N1, Flow control None | Official MSA 1050 User Guide Table 6 explicitly defines this parameter and notes applicability to MSA on the same page. Firmware login changes for 2050/2052. | HPE MSA 1050 User Guide |
| MSA 1060 / 2060 / 2062 | CLI / USB serial console | Public Gen6 documentation does not list a fixed baud rate. | Gen6 Storage Management Guide states that DHCP addresses can be obtained via the USB serial console login page; if terminal software requires a specific speed, verify via project documentation or current HPE support materials. | HPE MSA 1060/2060/2062 Storage Management Guide |
| Nimble / Alletra 5010/5030/5050, HFxx, ES3 | 3.5mm / DB9 Maintenance Port | 115.2 Kbps, 8 data bits, No parity, 1 stop bit, Flow control None | Do not mistakenly connect models marked as BMC/USB 'not used'; daily management/data ports are still configured according to eth0a/Admin/Business ports. | HPE Alletra 5010 / Nimble HFxx Hardware Guide |
| Alletra 6000 / 2140 | DB9 Maintenance Port | 115.2 Kbps, 8 data bits, No parity, 1 stop bit, Flow control None | CLI initial setup can use the serial port; daily management/data ports are still configured according to eth0a/Admin/Business ports. | HPE Alletra 6000 Hardware Guide |
| 3PAR StoreServ 7000 / 7450c | Controller node Console port | 9600 baud (other serial parameters follow OOTB/service procedures) | 7000 OOTB documentation provides 9600; 3PAR has no ProLiant iLO; daily management uses MGMT/SP/SSMC. | HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7000 OOTB Procedure |
| 3PAR StoreServ 8000 Service Processor | SP serial | 57600 8N1, Flow control Both, Transmit/Receive XON-XOFF | These are parameters from the 8000 SP connection page; they are not equivalent to the controller node console. | HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8000 SP connection page |
| 3PAR SP5.x / DL360 Gen10 Service Processor rebuild | SP serial / iLO Serial CLI | 115200 (configure BIOS Serial Console and Serial CLI according to SP5.x rebuild procedures) | Used for SP software rebuild/recovery scenarios; for standard on-site SP connections, first consult the corresponding SP version documentation. | HPE 3PAR Service Processor Software 5.x Service Guide |
| Primera / Alletra 9000, Alletra Storage MP, | Service/Serial (if physically present on-site) | No unified customer serial baud rate listed in public documentation | Document page indicates priority management port: Primera/Alletra 9000 uses | HPE Installation/Product Page |
| StoreOnce | MGMT, for MP use Admin/iLO, used for StoreOnce application management/iLO. |
